Clean Truck Check doesn't work like a single annual smog day for the whole state. Compliance testing is tied to your vehicle's own schedule in CARB's system, and passing emissions tests have been required since January 1, 2025 (source: CARB).
How to find your own dates
- Sign in to your CARB Clean Truck Check account and open your vehicle list.
- Check the compliance status and next test requirement shown for each vehicle.
- Book a credentialed tester with enough lead time before that date.
- Confirm the tester submitted the result and your status updated.
Practical scheduling advice
Shops get busy near common compliance dates, and a failed test needs repair time plus a retest. If your truck is out of the yard most weekdays, a mobile tester is often the cheaper option once you count downtime.
